Fireplace TV Units: The New Heart of the Modern Perth Living Room
Five years ago a TV unit was a piece of furniture you tolerated. Today, with built-in electric fireplaces and proper marble finishes, it’s often the most photographed thing in the living room. Here’s why fireplace TV units have become the centrepiece of choice for modern Perth homes.
Why the shift?
Three things changed:
- Electric fireplaces got good. Ambient flame effects with proper warmth, no flue, no installation.
- Open-plan living means the living room is on display all the time — no more hiding a beige cabinet behind a sofa.
- Hotel-inspired interiors have driven demand for centrepiece moments at home: marble, gold accents, soft ambient lighting.
What to look for
A good fireplace TV unit has:
- A genuine marble or stone finish on the top — not a printed laminate.
- A built-in electric fireplace with adjustable flame intensity and warmth output.
- Ample cable management hidden behind the unit (you do not want your TV-power cord visible).
- A matching coffee table available — sets tie the room together.
- A solid steel frame beneath the panels, not just MDF.
Sizing it right
The TV unit should be at least 30–40 cm wider than your screen on each side — anything tighter and the proportions feel cramped. Our standard fireplace units are 180 cm wide, designed for 55–75″ televisions.
Wall colour matters
Fireplace TV units pop most dramatically against a slightly darker wall — charcoal, deep navy, or warm taupe. A bright white wall behind a glossy black-and-gold unit can wash out the drama. Even a feature panel behind the unit makes a huge difference.
Our top picks
The Black & Gold Marble Fireplace TV Unit & Coffee Table is the showroom favourite — black-and-gold marble-look finish, built-in fireplace, and a matching coffee table. For lighter spaces, the Grey Marble Fireplace TV Unit is calmer but still commanding. And if you want a TV unit without the fireplace, the Black Luxury TV Unit & Coffee Table Set is the cleanest contemporary option.
